Contrack began with just two offices in 1985—Washington, DC and Cairo, Egypt. Since then, Contrack has built a global footprint and an international reputation.

A year into operation, Contrack began providing material procurement to a variety of corporate and U.S. government agencies in the United States and construction subcontracting services for U.S. Government-funded projects from Cairo.

By 1990, Contrack had won its first construction contract as Prime Contractor. Though just $1.9 million, it was the beginning of the beginning for the Contrack of today. By 1994, Contrack had over $100M of construction projects under its belt and, better yet, not a single lost-time accident.

In its tenth year, Contrack expanded its reach with a branch office in Doha, Qatar that opened opportunities in the Gulf region. In 1998, Orascom Construction Industries acquired a 45% ownership stake in Contrack. In 2001, ENR Magazine named Contrack one its Top International Contractors for the tenth straight year.

Watts Constructors was formed in 1993 as a woman-owned small business operating primarily as a subcontractor in the San Francisco Bay Area. In June 2007, Watts Constructors relocated their corporate office to Honolulu, Hawaii. In 2012, Watts was acquired by Orascom, bring both Contrack and Watts under the same parent company for the first time.

In 2015, the two companies were merged into Contrack Watts, forming a true global construction leader. The resulting company was, in every respect, built to build.
